H.O.S.T. (or "HOST") stands for Helping Others Sleep Tonight and is a group of residents from local churches and the surrounding community who have banded together to help their fellow citizens who are homeless and/or part of the working-poor in our society.
Our Vision Statement: To feed the hungry and end homelessness in our community
Our Mission Statement: To show Jesus' love and compassion by providing housing to the homeless and sharing the good news to transform lives.
Our Goals
Patterson currently has about 78 homeless people (as of 2020), and this number is growing.
62% Men
15% Women
23% Children under 15
Our ultimate goal is to reduce homelessness in the westside communities of Stanislaus County by providing connections and support to aid and guide the homeless so that they may eventually gain stability, independence, and overall a comfortable quality of living. In addition to the homeless, we also aim to feed the hungry which may be people who are not homeless but possibly come from low-income households. We offer hot meals 2-3 times a week in addition to packing "cold" or sack lunches which we give out everyday.
Together, we help with the needs of the homeless in our community by assisting with or providing:
Shelter - temporary housing during the winter season
Food - covering all basic food groups
Clothing - shoes, jackets, sweaters, pants
Toiletries - toothpaste/brush, soap, towels
Labor Pool - assist in paying for themselves
